Background
Astoria Goldfellow was born the daughter of a retired adventurer. She was named after his legendary sword Astoria, which had saved his life many times over the years. And, much like her father’s namesake sword, Astoria herself continued to provide the elder Goldfellow with an uncanny ability to avoid life’s pitfalls. Miraculously, the young girl was able to predict whenever disaster was about to befall them, and thus avoid seemingly unavoidable fates. Astoria told her father that she heard the ‘voice of a machine’ in her dreams, which foretold these future events. Her father could hardly believe such a thing, though he couldn’t deny the incredible gift that his child clearly possessed.
The pair’s fortunes took a turn for the worse when Astoria predicted that her father would be killed by one of his former friends. The old halfling was beside himself. Betrayed by the very elf that he had entrusted his life to for so many years? For the first time, he failed to properly heed his daughter’s warnings. She pleaded with her father to reconsider his actions, but the old halfling would not listen. It was then that a sudden revelation came to Astoria. A being of incalculable intelligence, who called itself Zurvan, spoke directly into her mind for the first time and offered her a solution. The Great Machine would slow the passage of time within her realm and transport Astoria to an entirely new world in order to correct a cosmic disturbance found there. By performing this service, Zurvan promised to save her father from his otherwise unalterable, deadly destiny. She did not hesitate to agree.
In the blink of an eye, Astoria found herself standing within a small town in the Lignas region, stranded in a realm entirely foreign to her. She didn’t have time to get her bearings, though she didn’t need to. The Great Machine provided her with all the knowledge necessary to carry out her task, including her destination. The disturbance was buried deep within a place recently unearthed by this world’s denizens. Astoria wasted no time, and set out for the TOMB OF THE SERPENT KINGS!!
Delayed Mission
Astoria must locate a mysterious serpent crown and its accompanying gems in order to save her father and return to her original world. However, she seems more content to lead a slow life within Jokari and has seemingly abandoned her duties. When will she get her act together?!
